The goal of this project is to provide a place where people can receive both physical water for themselves and their animals and spiritual water through the preaching of God's Word. Currently mission stations are all located in Africa, but centralized preaching points are a global phenomenon. In Africa, the mission station is built around a water well. When there is no water, the people are on the move and it is difficult to share the Gospel. Once a well has been drilled the people begin to form stable communities and the real work of evangelism and discipleship can begin. In additional to the community well, each mission station has a church which is also used as a school to help to educate the younger children, a pastor's house and a medical clinic. With access to these "luxuries" of life, the people forego their nomadic ways and the pastor then has an opportunity to begin serious Bible study with the people. During the past ten years since this project began, the Lord has done amazing things. There is no doubt that He is leading and directing those who faithfully labor on these stations. It is an exciting project that has already had an impact on eternity! The mission stations are reaching thousands and they continually disciple them in the ways of the Lord and are producing new evangelists and pastors to carry the work on with the next generation. Harvesters International Ministries is committed to building mission stations as the Lord provides the resources. Obviously we cannot build a mission station for every well that we dig, but it is our hope the be able to have mission stations reasonably distributed throughout the vast area of the Rift Valley occupied by the Pokot tribe and in other areas around the globe as the Lord leads. It is not enough to share the Gospel, we are committed to raising up self sustaining churches and that can only be accomplished through discipleship. |
