Watering A Parched Land

“…my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”  (Ps. 63:1)

Can you remember a time when you were so drained of yourself and so starved for the Word?  In those times we feel like there is a deep emptiness in our souls and there is only one thing that can fill that void – His Word.

What if you lived in a place where His Word was not respected and where you could be punished for sharing it?  For our partner in Myanmar, this is the case.  The partner and his fellow pastors and evangelists live for the Word and thirst for more training and instruction that they may bring living water to a dark, dry and tired land – a land filled with military rules and restrictions.  Oh that the water could freely flow, but that is not to be any time soon.  November 7th elections kept the ruling Junta in power, and this was the first election in a decade, so religious freedom is not on the immediate horizon.

A North Carolina ministry has been able to temporarily fill the vessels with water and encourage the pastors and evangelists.  A small team recently returned from a watering mission – training these dedicated men and women in effective evangelism and helping them to put into practice the things they learned.  In addition to the pastors and evangelists, many children learned how to share the wordless book, received a book entitled “Sharing Jesus with Children Around the World”, sang and participated in dramas of stories from the Bible.  There was water flowing in all directions as the team of five was diverse in their backgrounds – some educators, some authors and some full-time evangelists.

During the practical session the 22 adult participants went out in seven teams did sixteen presentations and brought eight new people into the Kingdom.  The ripples are flowing as the streams are moving with new found energy from the two-weeks of blessed refreshment in the Word.

If you would be interested in being connected with one of these training groups that travel around the globe, please let us know and we will put you in contact with them.  We have many wonderful pictures to share.  If you would like to receive them, please let us know and we will send you some, but due to sensitivity in this country we are not posting any of the attendee’s faces on the web.

Pray for more opportunities to water this parched land and pray that those who have received training will be protected as they go out and share in the darkness.
