Fellowship Bible Church Ministry Overview
The ministry of Fellowship Bible Church is faithfully Pastor Benjamin is originally from the southern Chin State of Myanmar (south west part of the country bordering Bangladesh). His ministry began in earnest in 2003 after he completed his Bachelors of Theology degree at a missionary training school in Yangon. Benjamin met his wife in school and they both decided to start their church planting ministry in the area outside Yangon. The current military junta, which governs the country, prohibits public gatherings of more than five people, so services are held in the homes of the men that serve as pastors of the fellowships. The ministry has evolved over time to include the care of nearly thirty children, some of which live in a rented house near Pastor Benjamin, others of which live in the homes of congregation members. There are many students from Chin State attending school in Yangon. In addition to outreaches to the youth, Pastor Benjamin and his colleagues have an effective outreach to the students from Chin State. Pastor Benjamin has partnered with a retired doctor to conduct several medical clinics. The form of these clinics sounded very familiar to the clinics that Pokot Outreach conducts in Kenya. Basic medical care is given and each person is given the opportunity to hear the Gospel. Funding for some of the ministry activities comes from the tithes of the congregation. Other funding comes from the sale of pigs kept in the backyard of the pastor's house. |
